The 35th annual Brit Awards took place at the O2 Arena in a night when Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Paloma Faith won big. Twitter was set on fire when Royal Blood snatched the award for "Best British Group" leaving all directioners bursting in tears. Kanye West, Taylor and Madonna hit the stage to perform their latest hits. Madonna made POP HISTORY WITH CAPITAL LETTERS when she fell down during her Living For Love performance. Somebody's gonna get fired...Besides that unfortunate moment, the red carpet prior to the show was full of glamour and celebrities. Here's a round up of the best and the worst fashion moments from the Brit Awards 2015.
*FIRST THINGS FIRST: A QUEEN FALLING
This will go down in pop music history
Black and white has been a "must" throughout this award season, and the Brits were no exception. Model Leigh Lezark opted for a long sleeved tight dressed paired with chunky sandals, singer Ella Henderson went for a more mature look with big hair, and FKA Twigs stayed true to her iconic style.
2. LACE, WHITE, AND SEE THROUGH
Ellie Goulding chose a white lace dress while Marina Diamandis opted to showcase her va va voom side with a very provocative gown, which had her breasts almost in display. Despite this, one of my favourites from the night. Karlie Kloss picked her sleek gown from the recently showcased latest Tom Ford collection. We could see another Tom Ford gown during the Academy Awards, that time worn by Reese Whiterspoon. Looks like this collection will become a "celebrity favourite".
3. PASTEL PINK
Singer Lianne La Havas chose this peculiar outfit which did not need the handbag, but that really worked for her. The same goes to the "Rather Be" hitmaker Clean Bandit. I am mesmerized by how well this cut out cape outfit works with her personal style and her pink hair. Not a fan of Fleur East do though, plus the dress looked very dated.
4. MAROON TREND
This ladies belong into the "best dressed" category and they've also started what could be a new red carpet trend: maroon tones. "Best British Female Artist" winner Paloma Faith looked absolutely stunning in her Armani Privé dress. Elegant and sophisticated, newcomer Jessie Ware chose a black and maroon gown. Cara Delevigne opted to dress up as Harry Styles (just kidding) picking up Saint Laurent pieces. Chapeau to the menswear rocker look.
5. BEST DRESSED
Taylor Swift left us all in awe when she stepped into the red carpet wearing this Orient inspired Roberto Cavalli dress with a long trail. She was definetely dressed to win. Black nails and her trademark red lipstick matching the dress were her make up choices. Surprisingly, Rita Ora didn't land in the worst dressed list this time. She reedemed herself from The Academy Awards with this gold v-necked sparkly jumpsuit. This is the Rita we love.
6. MOST IMPROVED
You can definetely call this a comeback. After looking like a complete mess during past years ceremonies, Little Mix finally glammed up their game and looked "elegant" to their standards.
7. WORST DRESSED
I love Charli. I adore Charli. But this see through dress, paired with black pumps and so much side boob doesn't work for me. Same goes to Orlando Bloom: ill fitting jeans mixed with a denim shirt equals horror. And finally, someone please tell Calvin Harris that despite the fact that he's ridiculously handsome, he shouldn't wear worn off jeans to an event. They really screw up the whole look.
Leave it to Nick Jonas to stun on a red carpet. He picked a silver jewelry piece out of his confort zone and remained looking dapper. Sam Smith continues his winning streak choosing an indigo suit and DJ Nick Grimshaw looked like a true rockstar staying true to his hipster style.
